    Closings & Delays

Where are school closings and delays posted?

    • A call and/or text is sent out to parents who have signed up for school notifications during online registration.
    • An alert is posted at the top of this website.
    • A message is posted to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts.
    • Local radio stations are notified.

When are school closings and delays posted?

On a normal school day, it will be announced no later than 5:45 AM if we are delaying and/or closing. Following a delay, it will be announced no later than 7:45 AM if we are closing. Our schools are equipped with a phone messaging device. In the event of an early dismissal, we will send out a call to the phone number or text message you have designated. Please also update the school with an accurate email account. If you want accurate information please contact the school or listen to our officially designated points of contact. Please be aware that the decision to delay or close school is very dependent upon weather conditions. Changing weather conditions that might put your child(ren)’s safety at issue may result in a later notification of a delay or a delay being changed to a closing. Please also realize that conditions at your home location may be significantly different than those in another part of the district. The goal is to keep all children in the district safe.

Bus drivers will have the discretion while running their routes to determine whether a road can be traveled safely. It may be necessary for a driver to eliminate part or all of their route rather than subject the students and driver to a hazardous situation.

When do I sign up to get phone calls or text to notify me when school is going to be closed or delayed due to weather?

Your contact information will be setup in Skyward Family Access. Please go to Family Access and navigate to the Skylert tab along the left side. A window will open up where you will be allowed to enter phone numbers for calling, email addresses, and several numbers for texting. This allows you to have complete control over how you receive your district notifications and cancellations. It can be updated by you whenever you have a change. Just be sure to click the SAVE button after updates have been made.

What if I change my mind about the notifications or my phone number(s) change?

If it is the primary home phone number that has changed and/or contact phone numbers for parents or emergency contacts, please contact the school office where your child attends and indicate that you need the phone number(s) updated in the student’s records. For notifications, log in to your Family Access account and make any necessary changes as described above.

Whom do I call if I am not getting the phone calls or texts and I know the school has the correct information?

    Online Payments (E-Funds) Information

    Making Payments Online

How can I make payments online for food service, fees, and fundraisers?Kankakee Valley School Corporation (KVSC) uses a third-party product called e-Funds for Schools (EFS). EFS allows schools to collect fees via one payment processing source. The district will upload student information, but parents must create and manage their e-funds account.

The link to the e-Funds website can be found here. You can also access e-Funds on the KVSC website by going to the "Parents" tab and scrolling down to "Online Payments."

How do I create my parent account on e-Funds?

    1. Visit the KVSC e-Funds website. (https://payments.e-Fundsforschools.com/v3/districts/55568)
    2. Click on Create an Account
    3. Provide the requested information
    4. Click Create Account

Where do I get the “student number” to use for e-Funds?The student number can be found in the Family Access Portal under the Student Info tab. It’s listed as “Other ID” underneath the student’s picture.

I forgot my e-funds username and/or password. What do I do?Go to the e-Funds website and click login. You’ll be able to use the Forgot Username or Forgot Password option on that page. You’ll need to enter the email address you used when you set up the account.

If you have also forgotten which email address you used when you set up the account you will have to contact e-Funds directly by using the Contact Us link provided on the bottom left-hand side of the welcome page. (KVSC does not have access to that information.) Customer service may ask you for your family number or student number.

Why isn’t the lunch balance accurate on the e-Funds website?e-Funds does not have a direct link to the student database (Skyward). Instead, a file needs to be generated and submitted to e-Funds. However, Skyward Family Access provides accurate daily information on food service balances. Any payment made through e-Funds is immediately updated in Skyward.

I cannot access my student’s account in e-Funds even though I am logged in.If your child is new to the school district, their information may take a few days to be uploaded into e-Funds. As a result, you may not be able to manage your account immediately. However, it should be available to you within 24-48 hours.
